ZEALOTS OF THE WORLD UNITE! There are very few sites I really love. There are some I like in spite of myself. There are some which touch me and I don't know why. This goes out to all those people whose mission transcends the ordinary (and the magic is in the mission.) RENEGADE HTML. First I have to mention jodi.org, a recent addition to my index of beautiful sites. Beautiful in its uniqueness and inventive perversion of HTML code, it is completely different than any of the other sites on the list. No illusions, no narrative here, just the stuff of every computer geeks nightmares. It is a site which typifies the emergence of the web as an abstract artform. Stream of consciousness and mechanical horror, computer virus and unitelligible mechanisims make you feel out of control. And who is in control? If at first you don't appreciate this site take a look at the source code for the first page, then maybe you will believe. Those who brought you jodi.org also have a piece up at moobird you might like, I certainly did. MY SENTIMENTAL SIDE. Quick, before she graduates you must see the Artificial Butterfly. I don't know what attracts me to this site there is just something so sweet about her mission. SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. At John Mount's Genetic Movies you are God, or at least one of ten Gods given the chance to vote on a "species" of moving images. How you vote determines the next generation of images. This site has been around a long time and I would be curious to see examples of the evolution over the years.(I wonder if John is monitoring the progress.) I always thought this was a good idea though. JITTERY ON A GOOD DAY. For the best in overstimulation go to Shag. This site is like what a kindergartner with major computer skills and lots of sugar in their veins would do. So bright it hurts the eyes at times but it has some masterful graphic elements as well. Fun useage of technological gizmos like java and QTVR. |
