PLANET BROOKLYN was written, produced, directed, and edited by Regi Allen

Regi Allen's works include a Planet Brooklyn(1997) video art series that won various film festival awards including The Communicty Choice Award for Best Experimental film, from the National Black Programming Consortium; he has also won Best Show Award, from Washington D.C.s Rosebud Foundation for his work on the video art-poetry documentary Voices Against Violence(1994) His colaboration on Sandy Wilsons So Many Things To Consider and Jane Wagners Girls Like Us, were both selections of the Sundance Film Festival Short Film Series. Girls Like Us won Best Short for the series in 1996.

Regi has also edited for artist such as Tom Kalin, Rhea Tajima and Kathy High. He has collaborated also with the video art collectives Not Channel Zero and Third Eye Media. For two years Regi was featured editor for Children Television Workshops Emmy award winning, Sesame Street.

Mr. Allen was recently awarded a twelve month appointment as a Research Fellow of the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, at Carnegie Mellon University. There he will develop a multi-media campaign for media literacy that will examine the power of images and imagery in pop culture.

At present Mr. Allen is an on-line editor and video designer at Chelsea Post/Chelsea Television.

His background is quite eclectic. After attending boarding school at Deerfield Academy, Regi went to Barcelona, Spain, where he finished high school. He stayed in Barcelona for an additional two years, and went on to study philosophy and architecture at The University of Barcelona. Regi returned to the states, to pursue a short lived music career, by taking on short stints as a music producer/engineer and as a musician. He soon became interested in music video production and attended The Global Village Video Center and Downtown Community Television Center, as first an intern and later, an editor . His skills were sharpened at The Otterson Television Media Lab, where after three years, Regi began to create works of video art.

For the last year Regi has immersed himself into new technologies; such as designing content for the World Wide Web, and developing his video design aesthetic, using D2 layering technology and Grasss Valleys Kalidiscope Digital Video Effects Device. Currently he is in pre-production for a campaign of artmedia Public Service Announcements.
